In the first section, I slightly enlarged the smaller 18MP 1D X image to the same size as the 5D Mark III image. Each camera was set to 6 sharpening, and + 3 for saturation, as I usually shoot. In the second section, I reduced the 5D Mark III image to the same size as the 1D X image. In each case, it was a simple integral 9/10 or 10/9
The reasons for that are: 1. EF-S lens produces smaller image circle (you know that already) 2. Rear EF-S lens element may extend further into the camera than EF lens. If you mount it on FF body, it may collide with mirror mechanism and damage mirror and/or sensor.
The Canon EOS-1D X Mark III has a shutter speed range of 30 - 1/8000 sec. and a Bulb setting for even longer exposures. Sample Images. This is a selection of sample images from the Canon EOS-1D X Mark III camera, which were all taken using the 20 megapixel Large JPEG setting.
Canon EOS-1D X vs Canon EOS 1D Mark IV. I thought it would be helpful to summarize some of the pros and cons of the new camera versus the mk IV. When the camera can’t immediately lock focus, take your finger off the shutter (or AF button), compose so your autofocus point is back on top of the bird, and then try to focus again. Like its predecessor, the Mark IV crunches 14-bit files at full resolution regardless of frame rate. The larger bit-depth translates to finer tonal gradations and noticeably better detail. So, naturally I wondered if the 7D Mark II would be a wise upgrade to the 1D Mark IV. To help make the decision, I rented the 7D Mark II over the Thanksgiving holiday, to do some hands-on testing. Having sent it back, and having yet to review the images on my monitor, I am still in the decision making process.
